Meade Bread supplies food stands throughout the Village of Meade with rolls and loaves to feed hungry citizens and visitors. It was one of the first businesses established by the Founding Three.

The Baker family was invited to join the citizenry of the Village of Meade after meeting the Founding Three on the road to Capitol City. At that time, construction of the ovens were near completion and the need for a skilled baker to run them and talented manager to oversee the business were very much needed.

James works as the baker ensuring the needs of the community are met. His wife, Belinda Baker, manages the business of Meade Bread and communicates regularly with the city bookkeepers. Their children, twelve in all, assist in the running of the large bakery.

Personal Information

Prior to coming to Meade, James worked in his father's bakery in their village and learned to become an excellent baker.

As a young man, James was quite taken by Belinda, but too shy to approach her. His father gave him the good advice of carrying with him a sweet with which he might easily entice her to engage him in light conversation. James chose a strawberry muffin and carried it with him each day, but he never got up the courage to offer it to her.

Belinda was the most beautiful girl in the village. She had many friends and was well liked by all in the village. James intentions toward her were entirely unknown and unnoticed until one fateful day.

James's uncle was the miller and James was charged with carting the flour from the mill to the bakery. It was hard work and his muscles were taxed by the job, so when his mule got it into its head to topple the cart, James was hard pressed to do anything about it.

While he laboring to control the cart, he forgot about the muffin tucked inside his shirt and it was crushed. Belinda was walking by with a girlfriend and saw the accident. She saw the red on his shirt and ran over to help thinking he had been hurt. James was as red as his shirt stain, but was encouraged to see Belinda's kind, if confused, smile.

Afterward, James was less nervous and began his courtship of Belinda. Some time later they married and began a family. James was the proudest a papa could be when James junior arrived.

However, a youngling dragon forced change into their lives. Their village was devastated by both the destruction caused by the dragon and the fearful exodus of its residents. The commoners simply had no chance against the beast.

Today, James and Belinda live happily in their home above Meade Bread and strawberry muffins are always available.
