Fascinating animals are housed at the Galphor Zoo.

Home to the only cockatrices ever born in captivity, you won't want to skip this stop on your tour. The risk of petrification has been overcome by the ingenious use of dark spectacles secured to each of the three birds.

A diverse variety of dire animals inhabit the surrounding lands in the Meade Animal Santuary. Many are represented in the zoo's population.

Giant honeybees residing here are essential to the success of the settlement. Alone they produce enough wax to light the lamps of our city streets and enough honey to sweeten the local celebratory brews, but gnomes prefer to play. The Buckin' Bee is one of the more popular amusements at the zoo.

Sleeping Tiger, Hidden Dragon

The sleeping tiger in our story, went about his life aware of his surrounding, but without care for them. Such is the nature of the tiger. The hidden dragon, loved to be loved, as all dragons do. One day, they met.

The dragon appears from out of the sky. She swoops down and lands beside him.

The tiger greets the dragon. “Hello.” He says as he yawns and stretches his body out before settling back into his comfortable place beneath the tree.

“Hello.” Says the dragon. “How are you this fine day?”

The tiger has no reply. He knows the dragon will not eat him, and he prefers to keep his own company as he contemplates himself.

The dragon, however, will not accept such a response. Is she not beautiful, wise, and powerful? Yet, the tiger cares not. So she proceeds to imagine ways to impress the tiger. Perhaps the tiger does not see her, and she must show him. She raises her wings high and reaches out across the sky to display their strength and beauty to the tiger.

The tiger shows no reaction to her and begins to groom the nails on his great paws. He is not impressed.

The dragon is confused. How does this small tiger ignore the greatness that is she, and prefer the solitude of the shady tree? The dragon thinks. Perhaps a larger display is necessary. Perhaps this tiger is of some great importance yet unknown to the dragon. She takes to the air and surveys the landscape. When she lands, she takes to the other side of the tree.

The tiger glances at her. Again, he is not impressed.

The dragon is outraged. She will make the tiger pay attention. The dragon let loose the fire within her and set the tree to flames.

“Now, what say you?” The dragon demands of the tiger.

The tiger replies with another yawn, and the dragon responses with another display of flames.

The tiger moved away to find a new source of shade. The dragon followed.

Finally, the dragon asks, “Why do you pay me no mind?”

The tiger replies, “Were it that you did not want it so, you might be of interest.”

To which the dragon replies, “I should only wish for the attentions of those that are disinterested.”

Meet Our Proprietor

Galphor

Galphor is very tall for an elf at 5'9", 126 lbs.

Galphor he been hunting in the forest surrounding the fledgling village when he was discovered. Galphor was apologetic for his unwitting intrusion on their land. Galphor's show of respect and good humor gained favor with the Founding Three and their companion, Agmar the Druid. He was invited to join the citizenry of Meade to help establish the Meade Animal Sanctuary.

Galphor uses his skills and cunning as a ranger to track and monitor the animals in their natural habit.

Later, Galphor founded the Galphor Zoo. The Galphor Zoo is dedicated to the procurement, care and display of rare and exotic creatures from around the world.
